Who Said It? Next Part
Hey, thanks for stopping by. Welcome to my blog. Once again, it's time again to play Who Said It!
Please tell me who made this statement about immigration caps:
"I'm capping the refugee immigration to the U.S. to 15,000 people per year?"
Okay, this is a trick question. As of today (April 16, 2021) BOTH Trump and Biden have made this statement.
Please refer to this CNN link to learn more how Biden walked back his 62,500 refugees per year election promise.
Are you at all convinced yet that political parties don't matter? That either party will lie about anything that seems to give them an edge over the other party? Pay attention! They are two sides of the same coin.
I'm sure that I will (sadly) be able to play this game with you again at a later date. Meanwhile, enjoy Biden's press conferences. He sometimes tells the truth, although he often gets caught out when he doesn't remember those essential stats.
PS: This month Biden also upheld (in a way) Trump's US troop withdrawal agreement from Afghanistan, something Trump negotiated with the Taliban some time ago.
Also, I'll throw in a juicy rumor that I'm starting right here: Biden is set to take the position of Leader of Cuba's Communist Party, now that Raoul Castro has stepped down!
Techically, so this would make politics a three-sided coin...

Sign of the (End) Times
So, still reeling from Buick's new commercial selling S(YOU)Vs, I found this little gem that made CNN's "fashion" news headlines today (March 29, 2021):
Lil Nas X's unofficial 'Satan' Nikes containing human blood sell out in under a minute.

Who Said It? Round 2
Yes, it's already time for another round of Who Said It!
This headline sourced from CNN:
DHS chief says border closed, won't give timeline for facilities capable of handling surge of unaccompanied children.
Under whose direction did the DHS chief declare this? Trump or Biden's?

Who said it? Round 1
I think this will be a recurring theme in the next four years.
Who said this: Trump or Biden?
Addressing Mexican immigrants: "I can say quite clearly: Don't come." CNN, March 17, 2021

"I Wish Every Day Was Diversity Day" MG Scott
A brand new month and with it brand new days to celebrate something.
March brings us, among many other things besides a day to "be Irish" on St. Patrick's Day, the following American designations:
- Irish American Heritage Month
- Music in Our Schools Month
- National Celery Month
- National Craft Month
- National Frozen Food Month
- National Nutrition Month
- National Peanut Month
- National Women's History Month
- Red Cross Month
- Social Workers Month
(Data sourced from http://www.holidayinsights.com/moreholidays/march.htm)
The title of the post sums up my displeasure. It is taken from The Office's Michael Scott, who naively and perfectly wishes that every day was diversity day.
Amen, Michael Scott! Can we stop highlighting certain groups at the risk of omitting others? And, I wonder, do Frozen Food, Celery and the Peanut really need a month to be celebrated? And what does that even mean?
How about all the people going out for a beer to celebrate St. Patrick's Day pray a rosary before heading out? Just a thought.

The Youniverse!
I caught the end of this commercial the other day (maybe on Super Bowl Sunday) and I was shocked to see the almost(?) full completion of our age's egoism, represented in a single term: the Youniverse.
My shock was soon replaced by my usual cynicism and everything returned to normal. Of course we are going to celebrate each of our own uniqueness(es) as a central point in the universe! After all, why not? This is what history has led to all along, we must be the focus of the universe, otherwise, each of us would only be a small part of it (possibly having a supporting role in God's magnificent plans), and we can't have that, can we? Not when the world has taught us that there is no one more important than me, nothing more worthwhile pursuing, than my own desires, goals, ego!
Two further points I'd like to end with: This is apparently a Dell commercial. I dislike this commercial and the term so much that I truly regret having recently bought a Dell, although my cheap machine is by no means able to bring me to the Youniverse. The other point, so ironic, is that the music accompanying the commercial, the "Youniverse Anthem", is by Why Mona. Maybe Dell didn't know that there was an actual band called "Youniverse"? Or, maybe they did...
If you haven't been bombarded with enough corporate-sponsored commercialism lately, here is Dell's commercial:
