Halloween Tricks or Treats

I'm thinking of handing out brown scapulars and Rosaries for Halloween this year. Maybe I should just give them out to the "politically correct and perennially funny" trick-or-treaters dressed as pregnant nuns or pedophile priests?

The Other Marys

If I had any regular readers I would ask them at this point to indulge me in something I try to avoid doing: speculative theology.

My question is: were there any other Marys, i.e., other women immaculately conceived and prepared by God the Father to give birth to Our Lord Jesus Christ before Mary, wife of Joseph, gave her fiat and conceived of the Holy Spirit?

It's possible, is it not, that other virtuous and immaculate women were asked bear God's child and, faced with the burden of what was to come to Him and her sorrows, did not have the faith or courage or whatever might have been lacking to give their fiat. Not that this would make them bad women, just that it was not meant to be for them to give birth to Jesus at that time, in that place.

I'm not looking to cast doubt or aspersions on our holy Queen Mother and her providential role in salvation history, I am merely speculating on the possibility that other women were asked to fulfill this role and did not do it. Christian history would have forgotten them in time, in favor of celebrating Mary's freely given Ave.

Is there any Biblical text reference that would support the claim that Mary was the only woman in history to have ever been asked to do this? I can't think of any, but if a reader knows, please leave a comment.

On the Front Lines of the Battle for Life

This potential violence is why we pray to St. Michael for spiritual and physical protection when we go out to peacefully pray for the rights of the pre-born.

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the
wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him,
we humbly pray;
and do thou, O Prince of the
heavenly host,
by the power of God,
cast into hell,
Satan, and all evil spirits
who prowl throughout the world,
seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

Is Abortion Really Healthcare?

Image result for planned parenthood

Yeah, they're all about offering care. "No matter what."

As I watched yet another television commercial promoting some medication, it occurred to me that if abortion was truly healthcare for women, they would be promoting that service everywhere!

Yet, when was the last time you saw a tv commercial promoting the health benefits of abortion? Or heard such a commercial on the radio?

No, advertising of this so-called "pro-women's" health care don't exist away from the internet or on billboards.

Maybe we should point this discrepancy out to our misguided brothers and sisters who believe Planned Parenthood (and the culture of death's) lie about this abominable procedure.

Kavanaugh, Truth and Relativism

The Kavanaugh supreme court nomination hearings (and subsequent character hearing with Professor Ford) are a sign of the times. They represent our culture of relativism's finest fruits: Two people who claim (under oath) to have different beliefs of the truth, i.e., different truths. And the obvious result, both are being vilified by their opponents as liars.

Our culture's biggest achievement is the unrelenting approach to celebrate each person's own truths, with people refusing to acknowledge the untenable and inherent contradiction in this position.

Enjoy: relativism has now reached the courts. Good luck finding anyone guilty.
