Happy 2017 - New Release!

I wish everyone a happy, joyful and blessed 2017.
I also want to thank all the readers who have enjoyed my fiction. I look forward to providing you with more worthwhile reading material in the upcoming year.

And I also want to take this opportunity to promote my latest Fine Form Press release: Chip: A Shadow the Black Lab Tale #4.

Chip: Shadow #4 by JT Therrien
Blurb:
It's the day before Halloween and Matt wants candy. If he can just keep his balance standing on the chair and if he can just reach a bit further, he'll get his hands on all the Halloween candy his mother hid. Before he can reach it, however, he falls off the chair and wakes up with a broken arm. This event will turn Matt's world upside down!

This is the fourth story in my Shadow the Black Lab middle grade series. With many other stories planned, I hope that Fine Form Press will release one or two more in 2017, between releasing two new Catholic-themed novels and (hopefully) installment #4 in my Dr. Farkas paranormal romance series.

As you can see, it's going to be another busy year, but the projects are all so exciting, I can't wait to return to work after taking some time off to celebrate Christmas.

Here are the other stories in the Shadow series. The first three are available as ebooks and in print formats. Chip will eventually be released in print, hopefully before the summer.

The series can be purchased from Amazon, Smashwords, B&N, itunes or your favorite e-book retailer.

Thank you for your continued support!

I'm pleased to announce the Fine Form Press release of my new commercial fiction novel - after 10 years of re-writes...

Love and Death by JT Therrien
I truly enjoyed enjoyed working on this story. Love and Death is a study in contrasts. There's Jane Crispin, an older woman, spa owner and new-ager, who does something foolish after learning that she has a terminal disease: she steps out of her van one morning and kisses the handsome, younger construction worker holding a yield sign. What harm can that impulsive act do, right?

When Chase tracks her down and shows up at the spa the next day, Jane begins to realize that The Kiss started something she might not live long enough to finish!

I hope you enjoy reading this novel. It is one of my oldest and most cherished love stories. It has some wickedly entertaining characters and the setting is Seal Beach, California. Keep a tissue or two by your side, my editor advises. She's right. It's a bit of tear-jerker.

Love and Death is available (or will soon be) from all e-book retailers, including: Amazon,Smashwords, B & N, itunes or your favorite e-book retailer. My middle grade children's fiction is also available in print on CreateSpace.com and at Amazon.

For those who want to try before buying, I currently have four short works available for free atall retailers except Amazon (they won't let me...)

Thank you for taking the time to read this post and for reading my fiction. I'm grateful for any comments and reviews!

Her Father's Sins: a new novel

I'm pleased to announce the Fine Form Press release of my latest romance novel: Her Father's Sins.

Her Father's Sins by JT Therrien
This romance novel took nine years to write, from the first words to release. It spent six of those years dormant in my computer, waiting for me to return to it and finish it. I lost count of the number of times I changed the point-of-view over the years.

Thanks to my wife's input at the early stages of the novel, I believe that this story is one of my better efforts.

Lillian LaChance (nee Armstrong), Gabriel Peterson and Raymond Eckert are three of my most interesting characters. The setting is Toronto Canada, Geneva Switzerland and Muhajeria Sudan and the story spans three generations of the Armstrong family.

Her Father's Sins is a tale of contrasts: there is poverty (homelessness) vs affluence; small business vs Big Pharma; North American technological amenities vs Sudanese simplicity; the warmth of family life vs the cold isolation of family loss; the gift of mental health vs the trappings of mental illness; and many other contrasts.

Her Father's Sins Blurb

While recovering from a family tragedy, Lillian inherits her father's multinational pharmaceutical corporation, along with the responsibility for his successful, but unscrupulous, business practices. Needing to right past wrongs, Lillian ignores family loyalties as she schemes to gain the trust and friendship of Gabriel Peterson, a man who lost everything after his battle with William Armstrong.

I hope readers will enjoy my latest contemporary romance novel.

Her Father's Sins can be obtained from all e-book retailers, including: Amazon, Smashwords, B & N, itunes or your favorite e-book retailer. My middle grade children's fiction is also available in print on CreateSpace.com and at Amazon.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post and for reading my fiction.

New Release: Teresa's Garden

I am pleased to announce the Fine Form Press release of my new middle grade short story: Teresa's Garden!

Teresa's Garden

The inspiration of the story was a homily by our parish priest, Father Stanley, who discussed Mother Teresa and her analogy of the spiritual fruits of her garden.

Mother Teresa quote:
The fruit of silence is prayer, the fruit of prayer is faith, the fruit of faith is love, the fruit of love is service and the fruit of service is peace.

Teresa's Garden blurb:
A bomb suddenly detonates on a Kolkata street. Veronica and her friends scramble for safety, arriving unexpectedly at the Missionaries of Charity hospital. When Mother Teresa invites them into her garden the children are in for quite a mystical afternoon!

Besides featuring endearing Mother Teresa, this Catholic-themed story is loaded with allusions to many well-known Bible characters. I hope that readers will also find it edifying.

I hope parents will read Teresa's Garden to their young children, and that older children will also enjoy reading it.

As with all of my other middle grade fiction (Shadow the black Lab series) Teresa's Garden will also be available in print in the near future. Stay tuned for more details!

Teresa's Garden can be purchased from Amazon, Smashwords, B&N, itunes or your favorite e-book retailer and it is also available in print on CreateSpace.com.

New Release! KING'S DAUGHTER: DR. FARKAS III

My new release is the third part of my Dr. Farkas paranormal romance series. This one is historically-themed and reveals Dieudonnée's origins.

King's Daughter: Dr. Farkas III

Blurb
The year is 1663 and newly-engaged Dieudonnée de Lourdes volunteers to chaperone a group of orphaned girls to New France as part of King Louis XIV's King's Daughters new immigration program. Aboard ship she undergoes a transformative experience that throws her life into an unexpected direction.

A hundred years later, Dieudonnée is New France's strongest weapon in fighting the English on the Plains of Abraham. And, unless she gets a bayonet through the heart, her thirst for blood will never be quenched.

Here are the blurbs for the first two novellas in the series:

Dr. Farkas: Part I

Abigail Andrews is a phlebotomist who has terminal leukemia. The good news is that her oncologist, Dr. Jakob Farkas, might be able to heal her, since (he claims) he's a vampire! But there's one small hitch, tired of his lonely existence, Farkas has not fed in over 100 years and needs to be brought back to health before he can help Abigail, with whom he has fallen in love.

Abigail doesn't believe the crazy doctor's story, but she doesn't have much else going on at the moment besides dying. So she leaves her boring life in order to join Dr. Farkas on his travels around the world in search of a mystical cure.

As they await the arrival of the spring equinox in the legendary caves in Lascaux France, Abigail wonders if she can overcome the greatest obstacle to her cure: her mortality.

Blood Work: Dr. Farkas Part II

Newlyweds Jakob and Abigail lead an active social life: they party late into the night in after-hours dance clubs, devour tasty amuse bouches, and travel the world seeking fun and adventure. Life is good, until one day when Abigail starts throwing up. Not a life-threatening issue, unless you're a vampire.

When Abigail's mysterious illness spreads to Jakob, and then threatens an entire lineage of vampires, the couple is summoned to old Quebec City to meet with Jakob's maker. Abigail is introduced to Dieudonnée de Lourdes and quickly finds herself caught between a lethal illness and a jealous, vicious vampire.

Part I is currently available for free at all ebook retailers - except for Amazon - but readers can get their Kindle-formatted story from Smashwords.

A word about the Dr. Farkas paranormal romance series. The project should comprise five novellas by the time the last one is written.

The next installment will be narrated by Dr. Jakob Farkas. The story will add details to his history with Dieudonnée and continue the contemporary narrative with his wife, the pregnant Abigail. Since she conceived while being human we wonder, will the baby be a vampire or human? And how will that direct how Dieudonnée exacts her revenge?

The final part of the series will once again be narrated by the sassy former oncologist and cancer patient Abigail.

King's Daughter can be purchased from Amazon, Smashwords, itunes or your favorite e-book retailer.

New Release - The Betrothal!

I'm excited to announce the imminent release of my newest novella The Betrothal from Fine Form Press. This is an art-themed contemporary/historical romance set in modern day London and in 1434 Bruges, at the time of the painting of Jan van Eyck's masterpiece The Arnolfini Betrothal.

The Arnolfini Betrothal by Jan van Eyck

Blurb:
When Benjamin takes Sarah out to celebrate their four-month dating anniversary, he wines and dines her at Calabash, London's best restaurant. After a wonderful meal, he has another surprise for her: his prepared lecture at the National Gallery, where he presents Sarah with a unique and entertaining interpretation of the love story between feisty Giovanna Cenami and Pieter Baes, Jan van Eyck's young assistant at the time van Eyck painted the famous Arnolfini Betrothal Portrait.

The Betrothal by J.T. Therrien
I think readers will really enjoy this novella that offers two sweet romances: a contemporary one and an historical one. I look forward to sharing it with you very soon!

Guppy Soup Release!

Here it is! The release of my latest fiction: Guppy Soup.

Guppy Soup by JT Therrien

For those of you who do not follow me on Twitter or Facebook, Guppy Soup is my latest release from Fine Form Press. It is a small collection of literary short stories that cover a wide range of subjects such as cancer "Wanda's Appointment", quirky relationships "Masks", medical science vs faith "The Power of Words", surrealism "What if Dali....", science fiction "Zip: A Cautionary Tale", nostalgia "Legend" and "Summertime". There are also two previews of Fine Form Press releases included in the collection: The Well, previously released and still free at Smashwords, and the forthcoming The Betrothal, an art-themed contemporary-historical novella featuring Jan van Eyck's Arnolfini Betrothal masterpiece.

Guppy Soup Blurb ~
The stories in Guppy Soup explore human nature and how we sometimes simply don't live up to our potential. Guppy Soup reveals us as who we (oftentimes) are: impatient, petty, jealous, flawed creatures who have knee-jerk reactions to the world of appearances; people who fall too far short of achieving a charitable outlook on life and on others to be considered good.

Guppy Soup is currently available at Smashwords and at Amazon, with more distribution coming soon to third party e-tailers. I hope people will have a chance to read this fun collection of short stories!

Wanda's Appointment can be read in its entirety as part of Amazon's preview.
